240 grit 

• Prep natural nail before any uv gel application.
• Perfect for shaping natural free edge 
• Low corrosive surface

180 grit 

• Prep natural nail before any product application.
• Best to shorten natural free edge as well as shaping the nail

150 grit 

• Use to etch natural nail plate before nail enhancements
• Best to blend tips to the natural nail plate
• Removes any lifting of old product before new application

100 grit

• Not to be used on natural nail plate
  
• best used on acrylic nail enhancements
• Best for shaping crisp side walls , free edge and taking length down 

Why does it matter?

By using the wrong grit file can cause damage not only to the natural nail but to the side walls and cuticle area. 

Tips to remember:

When starting a new file it is advisable to prepare it before use. To do this file down each of the edges with another file to take the sharpness off, this avoids trauma to the nail and skin.

The higher the grit number the softer the file.
